Japanese steel company Kobe Steel Ltd has released financial and operating results for the 2025-26 fiscal year ended March 31.
During the period, Kobe Steel reported a net profit of 93.72 billion yen ($591.3 million), down from a net profit of 120.2 billion yen recorded in the previous fiscal year, while its net sales revenue for the full fiscal year was 2.43 trillion yen ($15.37 billion), down by 4.6 percent year-on-year
In the same year, Kobe Steel produced 5.81 million tons of steel, down 2.5 percent from the previous fiscal year, while total sales fell 1.9 percent year-on-year to 4.63 million tons.
According to Kobe Steel, in fiscal year 2025-26, its steel exports fell 13.7 percent to 940,000 tons, while its domestic sales rose 1.6 percent to 3.69 million tons, year-on-year.
The company said it expects its steel production and steel sales to be 5.90 million tons and 4.70 million tons, respectively, in fiscal year 2026-27, while its net sales revenue is projected to be 1.4 trillion yen. In addition, Kobe Steel expects its financial earnings in 2026 to remain broadly stable despite continued declining steel demand, cost inflation, and growing risks related to the situation in the Middle East, according to the company's latest financial presentation.
