India's ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel limited (AMNS) has begun production of EQ70 welded pipe at its Hazira plant in the western state of Gujarat to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, according to a company statement Wednesday.
Equivalent to the American Petroleum Institute (API) grade, EQ70 is a high-strength, low-alloy steel grade. with a minimum yield strength of 690 megapascals (MPa) and exceptional strength, the company said.
EQ70 grade welded pipes meet the stringent requirements of marine applications, such as supporting the supports of jack-up drilling rigs and deep-sea pipelines, the company added.
Their superior strength allows for the production of thinner, lighter pipes without compromising structural integrity, as well as their improved weldability and corrosion resistance. ensure reliability in harsh offshore environments.
With these high-performance welded pipes, customers in the Indian offshore and engineering sectors will benefit from increased supply reliability, faster lead times and lower costs, as well as increased competitiveness both domestically and internationally, the company said.
