The German Association for Steel Recycling and Recycling (BDSV) and the German Association of Metal Traders and Recyclers (VDM) have announced the signing of a merger agreement, creating the legal basis for the creation of the Circular Metal Association (CMA).
The new organization will serve as a single representative of the German steel and metal recycling industry at national, European and international levels.

The merger will take effect once it is registered in the association's register, a process that is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. Until then, both organizations will continue to operate within their existing structures.
Upon registration, BDSV and VDM will cease to exist as independent legal entities, and all rights, responsibilities and memberships will transfer to the CMA.
The CMA will represent the complete processing value chain
The Circular Metal Association will represent the entire steel and metals processing value chain, including collection, processing, trading and supply to enterprises. metalworking industry. Its scope of activity will also cover the trade of primary metals, ferroalloys and specialty metals.
According to the associations, the CMA aims to strengthen the sector's representation before German politicians as well as European institutions, including the European Parliament and the European Commission. The organization will also represent the industry in international organizations such as Recycling Europe and the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR).
