HDG exports from Brazil fell by 39% in May, while imports fell by 37%.

Brazil exported 27,000 metric tons (t) of hot-dip galvanized (HDG) products in May, up from 44,300 tons in April, according to Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.

This drop was mainly due to a drop in shipments to Argentina to just 100 tons at a price of $1,160/ton, compared with 37,600 tons in April.

The United States was Brazil's main destination in May, receiving 26,900 tons shipped by CSN at a price of $886 per ton.

At the same time, Brazil imported 12,500 tons of HDG in May, compared with 19,900 tons in April.

The decline was again caused by lower imports of coated flat steel products from China after Brazilian authorities imposed anti-dumping duties on these products in February.

HDG imports from China decreased from 7,900 tons in April to 5,000 tons in May.

In May, HDG imports came from Asia (12,100 tons at a price of $654 per ton) and Europe (400 tons). at a price of $1,325/ton, both on FOB terms
