The value of exports of non-ferrous metals from South Africa decreased by 11.4 percent in January-May 2026.
According to data released by the South African Revenue Service (SARS), in May of this year, the value of exports of base metals and products made from them from South Africa amounted to 14.17 billion South African rand (832.75 million dollars), which is 11.3 percent more than in April. In the period from January to May, the value of exports of base metals and products made from them from South Africa decreased by 11.4 percent year-on-year to 67.87 billion South African rand (3.99 billion US dollars). Imports of base metals and products made from them to South Africa in 2026 decreased by 1.3 percent year-on-year to 39.17 billion South African rand (2.30 billion US dollars) compared to the same period in 2025.
