Car production in Japan increased by three percent in January-April 2026

According to data provided by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), in April of this year, car production in Japan (including cars, trucks and buses) It amounted to 686,861 units, an increase of 2.7 percent compared to the same month in 2025. Meanwhile, in January-April of this year, car production in Japan increased by three percent year-on-year to 2,892,556 units.

Domestic car sales in Japan totaled 373,952 vehicles in April, up nine percent from the same month in 2025. At the same time, domestic car sales in Japan totaled 1,627,309 units in the first four months, remaining almost stable year-on-year.

Meanwhile, the country's car exports totaled 346,371 units in April, down 2.1 percent year-on-year. In the period from January to April, Japanese car exports fell 0.2 percent year-on-year to 1,372,564 units.
