During the period, excavator sales in China's domestic market totaled 79,025 units, an increase of 20.4 percent year-on-year, while excavator sales to export markets totaled 73,295 units, an increase of 33.5 percent year-on-year.

The mechanical engineering sector has become one of the most important for the steel sector amid a shift in demand from real estate to manufacturing and high-quality equipment. In 2025, mechanical engineering was the main driver of steel demand in China, accounting for approximately 30-35 percent of total steel consumption. The manufacturing industry (including mechanical engineering, automotive, and shipbuilding) as a whole consumed 50 percent of China's steel in 2024 and about 51 percent in 2025.
