In particular, in June, excavator sales in China's domestic market totaled 10,898 units, an increase of 33.9 percent year-on-year, while excavator sales to export markets totaled 14,547 units, an increase of 36.4 percent year-on-year.
In January-June of this year, excavator sales in China totaled 152,320 units, which is 26.4 percent more than last year. During the period, excavator sales in China's domestic market totaled 79,025 units, an increase of 20.4 percent year-on-year, while excavator sales to export markets totaled 73,295 units, an increase of 33.5 percent year-on-year.
In the first six months of this year, the excavator market showed a trend of export growth outpacing domestic demand, with exports becoming the main driver of growth.
The mechanical engineering sector has become one of the most important for the steel sector amid a shift in demand from real estate to manufacturing and high-quality equipment. In 2025, mechanical engineering was the main driver of steel demand in China, accounting for approximately 30-35 percent of total steel consumption. The manufacturing industry (including mechanical engineering, automotive, and shipbuilding) as a whole consumed 50 percent of China's steel in 2024 and about 51 percent in 2025.
