Meanwhile, Japan's sheet and strip stocks increased 4.4 percent month-on-month and 1.9 percent year-on-year to 669,319 tons. Steel producers held 74.4 percent of stocks, while steel traders accounted for the remaining 25.6 percent.
In May, Japan's sheet and strip production totaled 391,096 tons, up 16.9 percent month-on-month but down 3.5 percent year-on-year.
