Coking coal imports to Turkey increased by 1.2 percent in January-May 2026

In May of this year, imports of coking coal to Turkey totaled 480,437 metric tons, an increase of 31.7 percent compared to April and 9.1 percent year-on-year, according to preliminary data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Meanwhile, revenue from these imports amounted to $104.07 million, an increase of 52.9% compared to the previous month and 28.2% year-on-year.

In the period from January to May, the import of coking coal to Turkey amounted to 1.96 million tons, which is 1.2 percent more, while the value of these imports increased by 10.6 percent to $393.33 million, year-on-year.

Coking coal imports to Turkey - the last 12 months

During this period, the largest source of coking coal imports to Turkey was the United States with 1.09 million tons, which is 47.9% more than in the previous year. The United States is followed by Australia with 624,788 tons, down 31.9 percent from the same period last year, and Russia with 169,935 tons, down 40.3 percent from the same period last year, while Colombia supplied 77,003 tons.
