According to data released by the Japan Ship Exporters Association (JSEA), Japan's export orders for new vessels in July this year decreased by 38.1% in tonnage compared to the previous month, totaling 22 vessels with a total displacement of 873,780 gross tons. The orders included two general cargo vessels, 16 bulk carriers and four tankers. In June, orders totaled 36 vessels with a total weight of 1.41 million gross tons.
In June, for the period from January to July of this year, Japanese shipbuilders received new export orders for a total of 133 vessels with a total displacement of 5.88 million tons, which is 8.5% more than in the same period last year.
On the other hand, Japan exported 24 vessels with a total displacement of 1.10 million gross tons in July, compared with 10 vessels with a total displacement of 578,559 gross tons in June.
Meanwhile, between January and July of this year, Japan exported 128 vessels, totaling 5.83 million gross tons, an increase of 12.1 percent year-on-year.
