Car sales in Turkey decreased by 11.9% in January-August 2026

In August, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Turkey increased by 0.3% compared to July, but decreased by 20.3% year-on-year, amounting to 81,031 units, according to statistics from the Turkish Association of Automotive Distributors and Mobility (ODMD). At the same time, sales of passenger cars in the domestic market decreased by 25.2% year-on-year and by 1.5% month-on-month, to 61,529 units. In the segment of light commercial vehicles, sales, on the contrary, increased by 0.3% year-on-year and by 6.5% compared to the previous month, reaching 19,502 units.

Between January and August, sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the Turkish domestic market decreased by 11.9% in annual terms and amounted to 719,996 units. During the same period, passenger car sales fell by 13.8% to 564,241 units, while light commercial vehicle sales decreased by 4.4% to 155,755 units.
