According to Secex, the foreign trade secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Brazil exported 2,942 metric tons of cold rolled steel (CRC) in September and imported 48,440 tons, up from 1,880 tons that were exported and 32,941 tons that were imported in August (MDIC).
All September exports were sent to Argentina: Usiminas supplied 1,629 tons at a price of $911 per ton, and ArcelorMittal supplied 1,313 tons at a price of $1,289 per ton, both on FOB terms.
Imports were carried out from Asia (47,659 tons at a price of 624 per ton), Egypt (674 tons at a price of $810 per ton) and Sweden (107 tons at a price of $782 per ton), also on FOB terms.
The main Asian suppliers were Vietnam (19,684 tons at a price of $599 per ton) and South Korea (18,430 tons at a price of $678 per ton).
Vietnam has overtaken South Korea and regained its position as the leading foreign supplier of CRC to Brazil. The two countries have alternately held the top spot since Brazil imposed anti-dumping measures on Chinese CRC and coated flat rolled products in February.
