The Turkish Steel Exporters' Association (CIB) and international certification and verification body CARES have signed a cooperation declaration to help Turkish exporters prepare for the EU and UK Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requirements.
The declaration was signed by CIB Chairman Uğur Dalbeler and CARES Chief Operating Officer Ayhan Tuğrul. The organizations will inform association members about CBAM rules, implementation timelines and verification requirements, while helping companies access technical guidance.
CIB and CARES plan to hold joint information sessions, webinars and workshops for Turkish steel exporters. They will also exchange general, non-commercial information on international regulatory changes affecting the sector's exports. CARES will provide technical materials, while the two organizations will regularly share updates on CBAM implementation schedules and preparations for verification.
The declaration stipulates that CARES will continue to carry out verification independently and impartially, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17029 and ISO 14064-3. The organizations said the cooperation would not affect the scope, depth or outcome of CARES' verification work.
