The board of the largest Italian metallurgical plant Ilva (Ilva) Italy, Taranto, fired after the authorities arrested 8 billion euros of the assets of the management company Riva (Riva). The statement of the missile defense system says that the resignation of the Council, headed by the executive director of the plant Enriko Bondi and President Bruno Ferrante, will be officially submitted to the meeting of shareholders on June 5.
Ilva’s skill is one of the largest steel industries in Europe. After the series of accusations of environmental pollution and conspiracy with the Taranto authorities, the plant is in special administration mode. The prosecutor’s office is investigating his main shareholder, Emilio Riva on suspicion of tax evasion and bribery.
According to the Italian press, the government intends to intervene in what is happening in order to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the metallurgical plant during the investigation and sanctions.
In response to the protests of the workers of Ilva, the Deputy Minister of Italy on Economic Development Claudio de Vincent said that "ensuring the continuous production and future workshops of Ilva in the interests of the state, along with the environment and health of the population." According to the Minister of Infrastructure of Italy, Maurizio Lupa, the government is obliged to intervene in order to once again save the "absolutely strategic sector of the economy."
The Ilva plant provides the work of more than 20 thousand residents of the city of Taranto, which makes it the largest employer in the region with a high level of unemployment.
