The production of steel in 63 countries of the World Steel Association Association (WorldSteel) in May 2013 amounted to 136 million tons, increasing by 2.6 percent compared to May 2012. This is stated in a special WorldSteel report.
At the same time, in the first five months since the beginning of this year, the growth of global production steel amounted to 2.1 percent, and over May, steel in the world increased another 3.2 percent.
The loading of metallurgical capacities in the countries of WorldSteel members in the considered period was slightly reduced from 80 percent in April to 79.6 percent in May.
The leader of the world metallurgy remains China, which processed 67 million tons of steel in May 2013, which is 7.3 percent higher than in the APPG-2012. In second place is Japan with a result of 9 million 600 thousand tons, which is 4.3 more than in May 2012 and closes the three steel leaders in the production of steel
The United States have worsened their last year’s result by 4.9 percent - up to 7 million 500 thousand tons.
The countries of the European Union in their amicability reduced the production of steel, with the exception of Spain where growth was recorded by 4.3 percent, to 1 million 400 thousand tons. Germany smelted 3 million 700 thousand raw steel, which is 1.5 percent lower than the indicators of the APPG-2012. The decline in Italy amounted to 11.1 percent and reached 2 million 300 thousand tons, in France - 3.5 percent - 1 million 400 thousand tons.
The production of steel in Turkey in May decreased by 2 percent and amounted to 3 million tons.
Brazil managed to increase the May production of steel by 5.5 percent - also up to 3 million tons.
In Ukraine, the smelting of steel decreased by 6.5 percent by compiled according to WorldSteel 2 million 800 thousand tons.
