The construction of the transdriatic gas pipeline is planned to be launched in 2014. The program is designed for four years. Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAR) and partners for the development of the Marine Gas Field Shah -Deniz signed an agreement on financing the project, which will be finally approved within a month.
The transdriatic pipeline is designed to transport natural gas from the Caspian and Middle Eastern regions to Western Europe. Last week, the Consortium of the Azerbaijani Deposit Shah Deniz officially announced the choice of a TKP route for transporting its gas to Europe. Another pipeline fighting for the transportation of Azerbaijani gas to Europe was Nabucco West.
The transdriatic gas pipeline is designed to transport gas from the Caspian region through Greece and Albania and through the Adriatic Sea to the south of Italy and further to Western Europe. The length of the route (Greece, Albania, the Adriatic Sea (offshore part), Italy) - 520 km. Shah Deniz is considered the main source for the project.
The project developers are Swiss EGL, Norwegian Statoil, German E.on Ruhrgas. The estimated power of the gas pipeline is 10 billion cubic meters per year with the subsequent possibility of increasing throughput to 20 billion cubic meters per year. The agreement also implies the possibility of acquiring partners in the development of Shah-Deniz up to 50% in the TAR project.
The states (Greece, Albania and Italy), through the territory of which the transdriatic pipeline (TAP) will sign an intergovernmental agreement on the program of its construction. For all these countries, the implementation of the project is an extremely important component in economic terms.
The deadlines for the construction of a transdriatic pipeline are planned
