The Australian Southwales reports today that more than 300 former British Steel and British Coal workers in coksochemical industries filed a lawsuit in the port of Talbot, demanding compensation for the cost of treatment of cancer diseases caused by inhalation of vapors and dust decades ago.
Legal offices of Hugh James and Irwin Mitchela sent documented evidence of more than three hundred workers who worked on the coke -chemical batteries of British companies from 1940 to 1980 and suffering from various respiratory diseases today: lung cancer, pulmonary emphysema, chronic bronchitis and asthma. Many of the former employees of British Steel and British Coal have already died of such diseases.
Lawyers in the statement of claim claim that both of these companies were unable to correctly evaluate the risks of working on coke furnaces, and could not adequately protect workers from significant emissions of dust and vapors.
