The world's largest energy coal export company Glencore Xstrata PLC today has concluded a contract with the Japanese tohoku Electric Power for the supply of coal to the country's rising sun. At the same time, in comparison with last year, coal, according to the new agreement, will cost 11 percent less. This was stated by a source close to companies, who wished to remain unknown because of the disclosure of this information, which is a commercial secret.
It also became known that the companies agreed on a price of $ 85.80 per ton. Compared to October 2012, the cost of one ton of coal decreased by about 11 percent, since a year ago the price was $ 96.90. The press secretary of the power plant located in the Japanese city of Sendai did not confirm this information and refused to comment on this, reports www.clim24.ru/condicionery_toshiba.htm . Francis de Rosa, a representative of Glencore Xstrata in Sydney, did not say anything.
In August of this year, 10 Japanese power plants “burned” the record volume of coal - 5.7 million tons, which exceeded the average value by 21 percent. This is due to the disconnection of almost all nuclear reactors of the Japanese nuclear power plant, which will be tested for safety. Thus, this Asian country has to rely only on thermal energy.
As of today, Australian coal prices have fallen compared to last year by 7 percent to $ 78.30 per ton. According to the Ministry of Finance of Japan, it was from Australia that the country imported 114.8 million tons of coal, which is 62 percent of the total number of imported fuel in 2012. At the same time, the share of the imported coal from Indonesia was 19.5 percent, and only 6.7 percent of this type of fuel is imported from Russia.
Glencore Xstrata will sell coal to Japanese power plants at elevature percent cheaper
