The US Department of Trade has announced that it initiated a trade check regarding the import of electrical products from seven foreign countries. Under the investigation, there is an imported flat rental of alloy steel and products used in the electric power industry.
The investigation has begun in response to a request from two manufacturers in the United States, such as AK Steel Corporation in Ohio and Allegheny Ludlum, which is based on Pennsylvania. The companies supported the trade unions of metallurgists in Pittsburgh in the state of Pennsylvania. They argue that the import of electrical steel products from China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Poland and Russia was sold at low cost in the US market. The dumping margin was in the range from 38.54% to 257.61%, and manufacturers from China received unfair state subsidies.
In this regard, the US Department of Trade decided to begin anti -dumping examination of products from the aforementioned seven countries and compensation fees against products from China. The international trade commission, the authority of American trade, must make a preliminary decision for a request until November 20.
The investigation will be continued if it turns out that the ITC import of electrical steel products from seven countries significantly injured or threatens the US domestic industry in the future. The Ministry of Trade must make a final decision regarding improper dumping or subsidies at the end of 2013 or at the beginning of next year.
