The US Commission on International Trade (ITC) stated on Friday that the American steel industry was damaged by import of steel reinforcement from Mexico and Turkey. At the same time, according to the ITC, the Turkish government subsidized the reinforcement manufacturers so that they could realize it in the United States at a price below the “fair”.
For this decision, the commission was fully voted by its chairman Irving A. Williamson and authorized Din A. Pinkert, David S. Johanson and Meritin M. Brodbent. Commissioner Sarah L. Arnof supported the decision of the commission in relation to Turkey and refused to consider the Mexican import of reinforcement with dumping. Cattle Commissioner F. Kief did not take part in the vote.
As a result of the decisions made by the International Trade Commission, the US Department of Trade will continue to investigate the import of reinforcing steel, which is planned to be completed until December 16, 2013.
