The Association of Exporters of Turkish Steel (TSEA) reported that it will support the project to create a joint venture based on a metallurgical plant in a spacecraft for collective scrap metal procurement on the principles of joint -stock capital. According to TSEA President Namik Ekychi, imported scrap metal purchases will take place on the principles of shared participation.
The project has already been discussed among Turkish metallurgical enterprises, which is the world's largest scrap importer in the world. The initiators of the association expect that in this way they will be able to influence the price of raw materials.
According to data provided by the Turkish Institute of Statistics, the import of scrap metal into this country in the first nine months of 2013 amounted to about one and a half million tons, reducing 13.07 percent in annual calculus due to a decline in metallurgical production by 5 percent and growth of internal supplies of scrap.
