US President Barack Obama, speaking yesterday at a meeting with voters in the port of New Orleans, called on Congress to end the partisan war and accept the budget, which would increase expenses for scientific activities, as well as the modernization of roads, bridges and ports of the country.
According to Obama, an increase in the cost of modernizing the US infrastructure will increase the number of jobs and give impetus to the country's economic growth. "I have a whole bag of excellent ideas, but, ultimately, I must know that Congress is ready to move forward, working on national issues, and not doing the partisan war."
In addition, the US president insists that the country's health reform should begin in the near future.
The "available medical care program" starting next year should provide medical insurance of all American citizens, primarily the 15 percent of the population that now do not have this insurance. In accordance with the new law, all Americans, as well as US permanent residents, must draw up medical insurance until March 31, 2014.
To increase the competitiveness of the United States, Obama proposed increasing budget expenditures by $ 50 billion to finance the program for modernizing bridges, roads and ports. He proposed the program "Correct this first" that will determine priority projects and measures to modernize the US infrastructure. The purpose of this program will be to attract private capital to national projects.
