In January 2014, Russian Yekaterinburg will be filled with crowds of unemployed workers who have been dismissed from the last months that were once a leader in the USSR heavy engineering of the Uralmash factory. A revolutionary situation is brewing in the city. This was reported by the regional newspaper "Pravda URFO".
“In fact, in the capital of the Urals today it is brewing on just a crisis, and it is created, with words from the Soviet textbook,“ revolutionary situation ”: poverty, unemployment, social humiliation, resentment, in the end, for the destruction of not just the largest Ural plant, but the whole era in the history of the city and the country,” the newspaper writes.
According to the publication, in the city there is a promising plan for building on the site of Uralmash of a shopping and entertainment center and a new housing estate. Already ready projects of houses and infrastructure objects of the new microdistrict.
The decision on the phased stop of metallurgical production was made by the Board of Directors of Uralmash on September 30, 2013. Until the end of this year, the steel, blacksmith, foundry and stump workshop will be stopped with subsequent liquidation. Stop is carried out under the flag of reorganization of the production and modernization of equipment.
However, residents of the city of Yekaterinburg and workers, over whom the threat of “optimization for the period of reorganization” loomed that the workshops will be closed forever, since there are no plans to modernize production and information about the sources of financing this large -scale project.
Together with Uralmash, adjaches are closed. Due to the reduction of the volume of orders from UZTM, production was stopped at the “plant and metallurgical equipment factory”, people were sent to a simple one.
