South African Foundry was in a desperate position

According to the South African Scaw Metals Group, the South Africa metallurgical industry is "in the most desperate position." According to the report on the industrial sector in terms of statistics on enterprises employed in the enrichment of metals, the number of foundry industries in South Africa decreased from 1980 to 2003 from 450 to 200. Between 2007 and 2011, the number of foundry decreased by another 13 percent, and employment in these industries fell by a third.

The Executive Director of SCAW METALS Group Yufikile Humalo says that "local industry in real trouble. In connection with poor demand that we have been experiencing the last two years, the remaining enterprises of the industry have not invested in the modernization of equipment and new technologies."

The increase in scrap prices, electricity and the absence of qualified personnel kills the local foundry. The only way to get to your feet today, according to Humalo, is the help of the Government of South Africa. The Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Department of Economic Development of the country should carry out joint actions and efforts to support foundry shops, said the Executive Director of SCAW METALS GROUP.
