In the first 10 months of this year, metallurgical enterprises representing WorldSteel melted 1 billion 321 million tons of raw steel, which is 3.2 percent more than for the same period last year.
World leadership in production steel is firmly held by China who has fed 48.5 percent of all steel in the world. October 2013, the production of steel in the PRC increased by another 9.2 percent compared to last year and reached 65 million 81 thousand tons. In total, 883 million 822 thousand tons of raw steel were received in Asia for 10 months of this year, which is 6.2 percent higher than the APPG-2012 indicator.
The EU countries continued to reduce steel production and, according to the results of 10 months of 2013, melted 138 million 406 thousand tons, which is 3.4 percent less than in the APPG-2012.
Despite the sharp increase in production of steel in the United States in October by 8.7 percent of up to 7 million 390 thousand tons, in general, over 10 months of 2013, steel smelting in North America was reduced by APG by 2.9 percent to 99 million 249 thousand tons.
The production of steel in Turkey in an annual comparison in October increased by 6.9 percent to 3 million 78 thousand tons, the Russian Federation reduced production volumes by 1.5 percent - to 5 million 667 thousand tons, and Ukraine, on the contrary, increased the production of raw steel by 1.2 percent to 2 million 628 thousand tons.
