Air Products signed a contract that provides for the supply of three hydrogen generators and one nitrogen generator for the factory in France to the Indian Steel Giant Giant.
Air Products will provide operational assistance to the Saint Chély d’APcher plant in Southern France with three hydrogen gas generators (PHG) PRISM PHG100 and high purity generator PRISM GN700.
Hydrogen and nitrogen are used during heat treatment of textured electrical steel, which, among other applications, is used in electric engines and wind turbines.
PRISM PHGS will convert steam and methane into hydrogen and carbon monoxide, providing an alternative source of industrial gas supply. In Saint Chély D’ Apcher there is no way to store large quantities of gaseous hydrogen, so the Air Products solution on the modular concept of three hydrogen generators turned out to be an attractive alternative.
The system was developed to work on the required performance, even when one of the generators is autonomous. Each generator can operate at 50% of the power, therefore, the alleged consumption of hydrogen from 50 Nm3/h to 300 m3/h.
In addition to hydrogen, Air Products supplies the PRISM cryogenic generator for a unique distillation technology for the production of high purity nitrogen. To ensure the continuity of gas supply, two nitrogenic reserve tank and four evaporators were installed to support the generator.
Air Products will provide technical support and monitoring of the system when designing, manufacturing and installing the entire modular system.
