According to the Association of Mining and Mining and Metallurgical Enterprises of Kazakhstan, more than 30 percent of the total scrap metal is exported from the country. Only last year, as a result of free export, the deficit of this raw material amounted to more than 800 thousand tons. Given the development of the country's metallurgical industry by 2015, a deficiency of metal scrap will reach 1.6 - 2.8 million tons, the press release of the association said.
Lack of scrap metal negatively affects the production activities of the metallurgical plants of Kazakhstan. Due to the shortage of raw materials at KSP Steel LLP and Casting LLP, the use of production capacities is about 23 percent, and the existing scrap metal only is enough for one month of work with full workload. Loma and ARSELORMITAL TEMIRTAU AO is experiencing. The company has only 50 percent of scrap from the required amount.
The Executive Director of the Association Nikolai Radostovtsev noted that today, on the consideration of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, there is a draft developed by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Decree “On the introduction of a temporary ban on the export of waste and scrap of ferrous metals from the territory of Kazakhstan”.
The main consumers of Kazakhstani scrap metal are the CIS countries.
