In the leading metallurgical province of China Habei, 10 domain furnaces and 16 converters at 8 metallurgical enterprises began dismantling. Habei was concentrated in the cities of Tanshan, Handan and Chende and occupied a leading position in China for 12 years in a row. The trends in the fight against excess capacities have attracted the attention of all sections of society in recent years.
The State Council decided to reduce production potential by 80 million tons for five years, of which 60 million tons should be eliminated in Hebei province. This action will reduce the production of cast iron by 4.56 million tons, and steel capacities by 6.8 million tons, which will reduce coal consumption by 2.76 million tons and emissions of sulfur dioxide by 9800 tons, as well as dust emissions every year. This will allow more widely used a compressor with a diesel engine in the country's construction industry.
Hebei will have to pay more attention to accelerating the transformation of industry and modernization in order to improve air quality in accordance with the general requirement of the government to "digest outdated capacities into new production." Changes in the steel industry began with the province of Hebei, and are a key moment in solving the problem of excess capacity and prevention in the fight against air pollution.
In accordance with the 12th five-year plan, Hebei will eliminate 39 blast furnaces and 47 converters. Reduced capacities will amount to 11.81 million tons of cast iron and 17.16 million tons of steel -melting capacities. The government believes that it is better to close these small metallurgical objects and not allow them to pollute the air.
