Three people were injured, one died of serious burns, and the rest with minor injuries, after the explosion at the Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation corporation, in the south-west of Japan. The authorities reported that they were conducting their investigation, which should find out the causes of the explosion.
The accident occurred on Monday 1:15 PM on local time, when a liquefied natural gas used in the stove for hardening steel caught fire, at a factory located in Kitakisu, Fukuoka Prefecture. The explosion occurred in the subsidiary of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo, located on the territory of the plant about 7 km west of the Kokura railway station in Kitakuyu.
Three wounded were sent to the hospital. One worker who received, heavy burns died, the rest were slightly affected by inhalation of smoke. The deceased was 30 years old and he had been working in the Nippon Steel & Sumitomo branch for several years. In addition, a 20-year-old worker received light bodily harm. The identities of the victims were immediately established, and they were assisted, as the authorities said.
And this is not the only incident that has occurred recently at large metallurgical plants. In the UK, a fire was recorded at the scantorp object belonging to Tata Steel. The fire broke out in the machine room of the plant’s power plant and three people were taken to the hospital with medium burden.
