According to the production association "Ukrkox", in January-November 2013, Ukrainian cokesochemical enterprises manufactured 16 million 144 thousand tons of metallurgical coke of 6 percent humidity, which is 7.3 percent less than in APPG-2012. At the same time, in November of this year, the production of coke decreased to 1 million 379 thousand tons.
According to the general director of Ukrkox, Anatoly Starovoit, the situation in the industry is stable, the enterprises are fully provided with coal. However, in the near future, the release of Ukrainian coke will continue to decline due to the introduction of new fuel dust capacities that cannot work on low-grade coals.
“For 2014, we do not plan to increase the volume of coks, it is even possible to reduce it, since the fourth blast furnaces will be introduced by blowing dust -out fuel,” said Anatoly Starovoit.
Recall that in 2012, the drop in the production of metallurgical coke amounted to 3.3 percent due to the decline in metallurgical production. The share of imported coke in the balance of consumption in Ukraine is currently 37.5 percent versus 40 percent in 2012.
