Over the past five years, production in Ukraine has stabilized at 33-35 million tons. Such indicators will be characteristic of the country in the medium term. This was announced today during the press conference by reporters by the director of the Ukrpromvneshekspatrise SE Vladimir Vlasyuk.
“We expect that the steel smelting this year will be at the level of 2012 or slightly higher. It is 10.5 million tons less than a pre -crisis level,” Vladimir Vlasuk emphasized.
Noting that the growth of steel production in the country will be possible only if domestic consumption is increased, the head of Ukrpromvneshekspatrizes noted that the markets of the European Union and the Russian Federation remain the most capacious for Ukrainian metallurgists, and the European market is much larger.
“The European Union market is much larger in the tonnage, this difference is less in money, since the structure of commodity supplies is different,” said Vlasuk, clarifying that in the EU Ukraine supplies mainly a steel workpiece and slabs for further rolling, while Russia purchases metal products of a higher redistribution - leaf steel and pipes.
In the medium term, Ukraine will produce 33-35 million tons of steel annually
