During the presentation of his new strategy until 2017, the owner of the largest steel producer in the Russian Federation, the NLMK Group, Vladimir Lisin, said that soon it would be necessary to use the bankruptcy mechanism in relation to inefficient companies in the industry.
There will not be enough state support for everyone, Lisin told reporters, and therefore, in the near future, the "glade" of the Russian metallurgical market will change dramatically.
As far as we know, Oleg Deripaska's companies US Rusal and Igor Zyuzin Mechel are experiencing the most serious financial problems today. EVRAZ is also slowly moving towards the group of outsiders.
However, large metallurgical companies in Russia are not going to bankrupt yet. The shutdown of enterprises and unpleasant moments during the change of ownership are increasingly provoking mass protests from the public, demanding in some cases the reprivatization of metallurgical plants and their transfer to state ownership.
Russia does not rule out the possibility of a number of major bankruptcies in the metallurgical industry
