Zaporizhstal reported on environmental protection measures in Zaporozhye

On February 21, 2014, during public hearings, Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works presented a report on the implementation of the plant's modernization projects included in the Program of Environmental Measures of the city of Zaporozhye.

The event was attended by representatives of the environmental commissions of the city and regional level, communal and industrial enterprises of Zaporozhye, public organizations and the media.

MK Zaporizhstal, as part of Metinvest's technological strategy aimed at modernizing the Group's enterprises, is implementing a number of major investment measures aimed at achieving efficient, environmentally friendly production and included in the Program of Environmental Measures in Zaporizhzhia, as well as in a tripartite agreement between MK Zaporizhstal », The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Zaporozhye Regional Council.

Three large-scale modernization projects for Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works are in the active phase of implementation - a new compressor and construction of a hydrochloric acid pickling line at TsKhP-1, which will allow to reduce the discharge of industrial water into the river. Dnieper River and reduce emissions of sulfuric acid vapors by 83% (investments of about UAH 730 million), construction of a gas cleaning unit for sintering machine No. 2 (investments of UAH 80 million) and reconstruction of blast furnace No. 4 with the equipment of aspiration systems for the casting yard and the furnace under-hopper room (investments about UAH 600 million)

Recall that in May 2013 sintering machine No. 1 with high-tech gas cleaning equipment was put into operation (investments in the project are about UAH 240 million).
