Troops of the Western Military District raised on alert in Russia

The Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergei Shoigu said at the meeting that in accordance with the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday at 14:00 Moscow time, “the troops of the Western Military District (ZVO), as well as formations and military units deployed on its territory, were alerted, 2nd Army of the Central Military District, the command of the Aerospace Defense, the Airborne Forces, the Long-Range and Military Transport Aviation ".

As RIA Novosti reports , Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Defense to conduct a sudden comprehensive check combat readiness of the Western and Central military districts, as well as a number of combat arms.

The Russian Minister of Defense emphasized that, based on the analysis of the results of the inspections, "the appropriate conclusions were drawn and the parameters of the state defense order were clarified, the organizational structures of individual military command and control bodies were changed."

At the same time, no one talks about Ukraine in the RF Ministry of Defense. However, on the sidelines of the Ministry of Defense, no one hides that the sudden exercises were caused precisely by the recent events in Ukraine. This is also evidenced by the geography of the exercises, the troops involved and the unforeseen nature of the announcement of the check.
