In the first 2 months of 2014, steel production in Ukraine decreased compared to the APPG-2013 to 4 million 890 thousand tons. This is reported by the Metallurgprom Association of Enterprises.
In January - February 2014, the production of ferrous metal products decreased compared to the same period of time by 8 percent to 4 million 400 thousand tons, pig iron smelting decreased by 5 percent to 4 million 540 thousand tons.
In addition, since the beginning of the year, the production of metallurgical coke in Ukraine has decreased by 3 percent to 2 million 830 thousand tons.
Earlier it was reported that at the end of 2013 Ukraine produced 32 million 675 thousand tons of steel (+1 percent by 2012), 29 million 31 thousand tons of rolled metal (at the level of 2012) and smelted 29 million 116 thousand tons of pig iron (+2 percent over 2012). Coke production fell in 2013 by 7 percent to 17 million 596 thousand tons.
