On March 11, 2014, a meeting of the Committee for regulatory and technical activities of the Ukrainian Center for Steel Construction (USSS) was held, during which experts of the steel construction industry discussed projects of the new version of the DBN for the design of metal structures, as well as DSTU for the production and installation of metal structures.
As noted during the discussion, the USCC activities will focus on two key areas - adjusting national standards taking into account the use of modern technologies and materials, as well as harmonizing European standards for the design of building structures. This approach will allow the customer of the construction, during several years of the transition period from national standards to Eurocodes, to independently choose according to which regulatory documents the design of real estate objects will be carried out, and the manufacturers of metal structures will be given time to adapt technological processes to comply with European requirements.
“Securing at the legislative level the possibility of using innovative technologies, as well as requirements for the design and production of steel structures will allow consumers of metal structures to receive high-quality products, and manufacturing enterprises to increase their competitiveness in equal market conditions with European companies,” said the Head of the Committee for Regulatory and Technical Activities of the USCC Vladimir Adrianov. “In the next two years, we plan to carry out work on the harmonization of all European standards for the design of metal structures in Ukraine, as well as to issue a series of technical publications and methodological guidelines for design in accordance with the Eurocodes.”
It should be recalled that the developer of the new version of the DBN for the design of metal structures, as well as the DSTU for the production and installation of metal structures was the Ukrainian Institute of Steel Structures named after V.N. Shimanovsky with the support of the USCC. Until the end of March 2014, within the framework of the work of the Committee for the regulatory and technical activities of the USCC, discussion of these regulatory documents will take place, to which all interested experts in the steel construction industry are invited to join.
