Rinat Akhmetov's statement

Dear fellow countrymen!

A tragedy happened in our city yesterday. People of different political views could not contain the aggression. As a result, dozens of victims, a young man, Dmitry Chernyavsky, died. My deepest condolences to his family and friends. No policy justifies the sacrifice. And what happened is unacceptable.

Donbass has always been a business and responsible region. This is the land of hard and dangerous work, where strong hardworking and courageous people live and work. We know how to act not on emotions. We know how to be restrained and tolerant of each other. We know how to respect different views. It is necessary to stop sorting out relations with each other on the streets and squares - it takes lives and brings suffering.

I urge everyone to stay calm and not to give in to emotions, not to use the street.

We are a single Donbass family and must remain it - a single Donbass family in a single, integral Ukraine.
