According to the data on industrial production published on March 17 by the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, in January-February 2014, the country's steel industry increased its production of metallurgical products by 47 percent compared to the same period last year (APPD). At the same time, the production of finished rolled metal products increased by 39.5 percent on an annualized basis.
Statistical data show that in January-February 2014, the metallurgical industry and enterprises for the production of finished metal products in Azerbaijan produced goods and provided services for 66.7 million manats.
In the first two months of this year, the metallurgical industry of Azerbaijan smelted 48.7 thousand tons of cast iron, which is 83.7 percent lower than in the APPG, the production of steel pipes decreased by 54.3 percent on an annualized basis. Rebar output increased by 49.7 percent to 48 thousand tons.
In January 2014, the export of steel pipes from Azerbaijan decreased by 41.9 percent compared to the same period, to 3 million 499.7 thousand tons.
