ThyssenKrupp Materials strengthens the trading business in a strategically important region of America by expanding supply chain efficiency.
The new service center is located in Woodstock, Alabama, and will feature a facility of just under 1,000,000 square meters where primarily quality steels and specialty steel and aluminum coils will be processed and distributed. The service center will expand to 2,500 square meters in the coming years and plans to more than double its workforce upon completion of the second phase.
Joachim Limberg, CEO of Materials and Services for the Business Area, says this region of America is the second largest target in our international trading business practice and a prime target for investing in our future.
He explains in more detail: ThyssenKrupp will close the railway equipment block after the sale ends. As such, the new facility plays a leading role in corporate strategy and represents a significant vehicle for displaying opportunities in composites and logistics.
“The fact is that the state-of-the-art service center is located near the metropolitan area of Birmingham. Our new manufacturing facility allows us to maintain a closer relationship with our customers in the southern states of the United States and significantly expands our supply chains, making them more efficient, ”says Hans-Josef Hoss, President and CEO of ThyssenKrupp Materials NA.
