Shah Deniz II and South Caucasus continue construction of gas pipeline

Шах-Дениз II и Южный Кавказ продолжают строительство газопровода
The Shah Deniz Consortium and the South Caucasus Pipeline have been awarded a contract to manage projects for the construction and development of the Shah Deniz field (Stage 2), as well as the expansion of the South Caucasus gas pipeline.

The joint venture between Bechtel International Inc and Enka Insaat was allocated $ 528 million to build and commission the SCPX pipeline in Georgia. The scope of work includes the construction of a 16 km access road, two compressor stations of 120 MW, a metering station and a pressure reduction. SCPX will be completed in 2018.

Wood Group Kenny will provide initial project management and underwater operations. DrillTec
GMBH will conduct horizontal directional drilling and line pipe installation at five SCPX river crossings in 2016. CSM Bessac will carry out tunnel construction and pipeline installation at two other SCPX crossings in Azerbaijan and Georgia in 2017.

The Shah Deniz consortium will receive a $ 32 million contract for the design, procurement and construction of an offshore platform with a target for completion in 2017. The living quarters will be assembled and built near Baku using local resources.

The contracts will allow the first gas to be delivered on schedule and on budget at the end of 2018. The two rigs have completed drilling five production wells and will continue to operate in the Shah Deniz field to complete all 26 wells required to ramp up production to the planned 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
