Mexico's steel production grows 5.1 percent - Canacero

Steel production in the country was 19 million tonnes in 2013, up 5.1 percent from 2012, according to statistics released by the Mexican Metallurgical Association Canacero.

In 2013, production of finished metal products in Mexico decreased by 3.4 percent to 15.71 million tons. Meanwhile, steel imports to Mexico ranged from 9 million to 11 million tons.

The current steel production capacity in the country is about 25 million tons per year.
