According to the statistics of the Metallurgprom business association, Ukraine produced 2 million 640 thousand tons of steel in March 2014, which is 11 percent more than in February and 8.1 percent less than in March 2013. Pig iron production for the month increased by 13.7 percent to 2 million 502 thousand tons, which is 0.5 percent less on an annualized basis and the output of finished rolled metal increased by 10.5 percent - to 2 million 325 thousand tons (+ 1 percent YoY).

In the first quarter of this year, Ukrainian steelmakers welded by 9.4 percent became less than in the same period last year (APPG). In total, in January - March 2014, Ukraine smelted 7 million 525 thousand tons of crude steel.

In addition, in the first 3 months of 2014, pig iron production in Ukraine decreased by 3.3 percent to 7.040 million tons, total rolled products - by 8.3 percent - to 6.727 million tons.

Earlier it was reported that in 2013, Ukrainian metallurgical enterprises increased the production of general rolled products compared to 2012 by 0.3 percent, to 29.038 million tons, steel - by 0.9 percent, to 32.684 million tons, pig iron - by 2, 1% percent, up to 29.111 million tons.
