Speaking at the IX International Conference "Galvanized and Painted Rolled Products: Development Trends in Production and Consumption", Managing Director of the Ukrainian Center for Steel Construction (USSC) Roman Kurashev noted that in the next few years a positive trend of increase in consumption of galvanized steel will continue.
According to USCC estimates, from 2009 to 2012, there was a stable growth in consumption of galvanized steel in Ukraine, and only 2013 showed a slight drop in demand. At the same time, half of the consumed products were imports from China, Turkey and a number of European countries.
Talking about the prospects for the galvanized steel market, Roman Kurashev noted: “After the recession in 2014, the Ukrainian market for roofing, facade materials and light steel structures has a good potential for high-quality growth, so we expect that in the coming years the trend of an increase in consumption of galvanized steel by an average of 6 will continue. 5% per year. According to our forecasts, by 2022, the capacity of the domestic market for galvanized steel in Ukraine will reach about 663 thousand tons. "
Within the framework of the Committee for Roofing and Facade Structures of the USCC, a program has been developed and is being implemented to intensify the consumption of galvanized products. The main focus is on the creation of quality standards for galvanized products (enclosing and supporting corrugated boarding, gypsum board guides, reinforcing profile) and the introduction of design techniques for steel-reinforced concrete floors. In the near future, it is planned to launch a committee for light steel thin-walled structures (LSTC), which are very quickly gaining popularity among construction customers.
Ukrainian market for galvanized steel expects growth of 6.5 percent per year
