US firms form consortium for Iraqi oil production

The North America-West Asia Consortium is looking to deliver an initial inventory of oil well equipment as soon as possible in order to fulfill plans to expand supplies to Iraq as oil demand rises. The first batch of steel pipes for oil wells is expected to arrive in Iraq in early May.

The desire of American manufacturing to support Iraq's growing efforts to develop the oil and gas sector has led to the formation of a consortium. Together, all members of the US Steel Tubular Products, MRC Global and NAWAH consortium are committed to helping Iraq create a market that can replicate the history of Saudi Arabia, which developed the world's largest oil and gas reserves.
