NSSMC ready to ship the longest 150 meter rail track from Yawata Works

NSSMC готов к отправке самых длинных 150 метровых железнодорожных рельсов от Yawata Works
Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation has set up a production and transportation system for 150 meter railroad tracks at Yawata Works. The final steps towards the completion of the facility at Yawata Works will enable it to handle and load 150-meter rails, the longest in the world.

Rails of this length will help stabilize the railroad track by reducing the number of welds, as well as reducing track maintenance by rail companies. In modern conditions of economic growth, further development of vehicles is required. Intercity passenger trains seek to increase speed and reduce weight, while freight trains want to increase carrying capacity.

This means that the rails will be used in a tougher environment than in the past. Railroad rails, after hot rolling, are usually cut into 25 - 50 meter standard lengths and sent to users. The joints between the rails are one of the causes of noise and vibration, significantly affecting the comfort of passengers. These problems are considered to be a weak point in rail passenger transport. Reducing the number of joints is a good solution to these problems for rail companies.

NSSMC has been supplying rails to rail companies around the world since 1901, when the Yawata Works Rail Works began operations. With 113 years of experience in railroad manufacturing, NSSMC is able to improve its technologies and develop products that will promote safer and more intensive rail traffic.
