Russia exported 245,000 tons of scrap metal in February, up 12.7 percent YoY, but down 1.5 percent from a month earlier.
In February, Turkey was the largest importer of Russian scrap metal with 94 thousand tons, a decrease of 24.4 percent. South Korea was the second largest importer with 50 thousand tons, up 17.1 percent, and Spain was the third largest with 36 thousand tons, jumping 131.53 percent, all from the same month in 2013.
During the first two months of this year, scrap steel exports in Russia totaled 493 thousand tonnes, up 18.2 percent YoY. Among them, 226 thousand tons were exported to Turkey, which is 5.5 percent more; 89,000 tons were shipped to Spain, up 131 percent, and 87,000 tons were imported by South Korea, up 18.1 percent, all up from the same period a year earlier.
