Mechel signed a transportation agreement with OJSC TransContainer

Mechel OJSC, one of the leading Russian companies in the mining and metallurgical industry, reports that it has signed agreements on the creation of a system for the transportation of goods with the leading container operator in Russia, OJSC TransContainer. The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 19th Moscow International Conference and Exhibition of Transport and Logistics "TransRussia".

According to the signed documents, TransContainer will handle Mechel's multimodal cargo transportation in various types of containers. The annual turnover of cargo will amount to over 5000 twenty-foot container units. Now TransContainer guarantees monthly transportation of about 400-450 such containers with cargo from Mechel industrial facilities, supplied to the company's partners in Russia and abroad.

Peter Baskakov, General Director of TransContainer, said that “TransContainer considers Mechel Group to be a reliable partner. With the signing of this agreement, our cooperation will be systematic and long-term ”. The geography of joint activities covers not only Russia, but also the countries of the CIS and the Asia-Pacific region. Sergey Kulakov, director of Mecheltrans LLC, said that “This new format of cooperation with OJSC TransContainer will certainly allow us to optimize the container transport system. In addition, Mechel will be able to improve the quality of logistics for its geographical routes used by the Group's enterprises, as a result of which transportation costs will be significantly reduced ”.
