JSW Steel Limited has commissioned its new Cold Rolling Mill 2 (CRM-2) at its facility in Vijayanagar, Karnataka. The new CRM-2 complex, with a production capacity of 2.3 million tons per year, is the most complex in configuration and will be able to produce advanced high-strength steels such as galvanized and galvanized GI and GA categories up to 1870 mm wide.
JSW Steel's Deputy Managing Director said: “The CRM-2 is equipped with the latest technology utilizing 980 MPa (ETC) CR continuous annealing technology and an auto galvanizing line capable of producing 590 MPa (ETC) GI and GA coatings. Currently, high-strength products of the upper classes are mainly imported. "

JFE Steel, which owns a 15 percent stake in JSW Steel, provides technical assistance in the development of various grades of auto steels, including steels for vehicle exterior panels, in order to meet high demand, both domestically and internationally.
JSW Steel put into operation Phase 1 at CRM-2, including a pickling line with a capacity of 2.3 MTPA combined with cold rolling (PLTCM), a continuous annealing line (CAL-1) with 0.95 MTPA and a Continuous Galvanizing Line (CGL) with 0.4 million tonnes per year.
The final Phase 2 is scheduled to be operational in the first half of 2016. The new plant will be a milestone in JSW Steel's history in increasing the company's value-added and product basket.
