U.S. exports of light bullion (trade bars) totaled 4,279 tons last August, down 16.3 percent from July and down 10.5 percent year over year, according to U.S. Commerce Department export data. In value terms, merchant bar exports totaled $5.14 million in August, up from $5.99 million the previous month and $5.49 million in August 2024.
The United States shipped the most merchant bars to Mexico in August with 2,940 tons, compared to 1,794 tons in July and 3,025 tons in August last year. Canada was another popular destination with 1,061 metric tons. There were no other significant destinations (1,000 or more) for US trade bar exports in August.
