Alexander Zrazhevsky, General Director of the Metallurgprom Production Association, expects that in 2014 Ukraine will produce 29 million tons of steel. The main purpose of the association is to coordinate the activities of enterprises of the mining and metallurgical complex.
Zrazhevsky said that “This year we planned to achieve production of about 30 million tons of steel. But if we take into account the productivity in the first quarter and translate this to the whole year, then we will have about 28.6 million tons. the market will improve, then we will have a result of 29 million tons. "
He stressed that Ukraine remains the most export-dependent state among the main steel producers in the world. In the first quarter of 2014, 84 percent of the delivered steel products were exported. According to the World Steel Association, Ukraine's steel production in March 2014 amounted to 2.7 million tons, which is 7.7 percent lower compared to March 2013.
